Last year’s historic general strike which caused the right-wing Netanyahu government to cave into to union demands for restriction of contract labour turned out to be the beginning of a long fight.
Yesterday the Histadrut, Israel’s national trade union center, formally declared a dispute with the government, meaning that in another 14 days, strikes and other industrial action become possible once again.
At issue is the government’s foot-dragging on the agreed reduction in the number of workers employed as casuals.
