Despite the announcement of yet another Saudi grant of millions of dollars, the Palestinian Authority has still not paid the full December salaries to its employees.  As a result, the public sector union has announced that it will hold another one-day strike on Wednesday this week (23 January).  The Palestinian Authority blames Israel for the unpaid salaries, citing Israeli sanctions imposed after the decision by the PA to seek UN membership for Palestine in 2012.  While Palestinian union leaders seem to accept that, they accuse the Abbas government of doing little to prepare for the anticipated sanctions.  They have been engaged in a series of street demonstrations and rolling strikes now for several weeks.
